I am 27 years old and look forward to learning alot more.0 -
Good One!!!!!
53 the first of March. Started in the trade in 1985 and now in my 11th year on my own. Bald now and just had to break down and buy 36" waist pants. Ooh!!! that hurt; but I couldn't breath in my 34's.
I like Dave's idea of pictures. Gotta learn more computer expertise so I can send a pic of my ugly mug. Good post!
P.S. To you guys who posted pictures: you all are way more handsome and trim than I ever imagined!0 -
Well if you ask my wife,
I'm somewhere between 5-18, depends on the day. But most of the time 31, but just found out that I have to have a knee scoped due to a softball injury, makes me feel 18 again:( Although I know it will take a BIT longer to rehab this time.

65 years old. In a/c, HVAC, controls since 1958,loved every minute.
Come to this site to continue learning.
I said to (my wife) "I hope that I always have a little boy in me" she replied "You don't have anything to worry about" LOL.0 -
Happy belated B-Day
Plumdog.
I don't know what 57 is supposed to feel like, but I don't feel like it :O)
Don't have time to get old, too much to do.
My Mom is 78, and got a new "boyfreind" at 75. He's a "younger man" at 72 :O)
Gotta go swim in the Crick with the almost nine yr old.
Later, fella's.
Brian.
Edit: We didn't go crick-swimming on this day, we split some "Rita logs" built a fire and incinerated some yardbird thighs.
This sweetheart is what keeps me young.0 -
Wish I knew now, what I thought
I knew 20 years ago. Coming up on 43, 20 of that busting knuckles. And am pleased to say, I'm still learning, really can't ask for much more than that. If I could find replacement parts for my elbows and knee's, I'd be as good as new.
Yah I know, "the wiring, the wiring it's a mess".... I took care of it. This was a replacement.

45
24 years in the plumbing field, 21 years at the same company. Time flys when your having fun, oh it not all fun but for the most part it is. My dad always told me to try and learn something new everyday and for the most part i always have, if not at work I come here and absorb the vase knowledge here! Thanks to everyone for there input here. If someone was to tell me years ago that I would be having as much fun as I'm having everyday at work I would have said that they had a screw loose.
Its great to be able to put the faces to the names!
Not a bad looking group!

A friend and I are bidding a small commercial project together, he brings over the plans and asks how many days do you think? I figure 15 tops. he says 25. I ask why the diff. says we ain't as fast as we used to be. He's 45, I'll be 55 in june.0 -
Killed 5 wallies....
with one picture there. I recognize two from past meeting experiences, one from paying attention, and the other two, I'm guessing, but I think #1 is number 3's podnah, so through elimination, I'd guess Rick to be # 2. Was I close?

I'm 34 3/4 right now.
Knees and back are in their 50's. Brain has been in it's 30's since I was 12 years old.
Been doing HVAC since January '91 Which is of course why knees and back are in 50's
Here's a pic of me from two years ago. I still look the same, except for hairline is a little farther back. (the young ladies are my oldest daughters).0 -
42 years old. 23 years in the trade.0 -

45+ years in the trade, 57 last candle burning, and feeling 85. Going under the knife soon to fix bad wrist and numb fingers, but it's been worth the ride !!!

A common thought
thru the messages is the physical wear and tear this business is taking out of all of you. I would imagine most of us don't really appreciate just how tough this work can be on you guys.
It would be interesting to be able to add up all the years of experience in this thread.
Ah, experience.... The young bull and the old bull were on the hill overlooking a meadow full of cows. The young bull said, "Let's run down there and grab one of them cows". The old bull responded, "Let's walk and grab them all".
I am 60 and still have on my list of to-do's to learn how to weld and to drive a big truck, well at least bigger than the dumper I drove while in school.
Thanks for all your knowledge and help.

Seems like a few of us are right around the same age. I will be 53 in Dec. I started plumbing fresh out of high school. That makes 33 years in the trade. 25 of that has been on my own in my own business, doing all the work by myself. Only for the last 7 or 8 years have I had steady employees. I would not dream of doing anything else except the the days when I am digging around in a bunch of fiberglass or spending all day in a crawl space.

Thanks Brad...
I intend to!0 -
Just think of a picture of Santa
I will be 69 in June of this year. I have lived several life times during these years. I believe I must be one of the oldest Wallies. But I sure enjoy your company.
As long as you can get up an enjoy what you are doing each day, you have got it made.
I tried to retire several times, but I can not do it. I enjoy the business world better than sitting around talking about the good old days.
I hope you all have as much fun out of your life as I have had with my time here on this wonderful blue marble.0 -
Right on,Bill!

Figure this one out...
I have been in the business in one shape or another beginning in 1986. I can still touch a copper pipe and tell you the temperature within 1 degree.
I am the one with the big ears!

Crossed the 50 yard line last week. I still think I'm a kid.
I know it is a cliche, but 50 used to be a LOT older when I was 25....
