I recently had a person contact me from our web presence, needing an expert in an area that is TOO far away for us to service. I asked her for her zip, put it into the FAP search engine, and lo and behold, John's name popped up and guess who I sent her too. I'd MUCH rather refer people to someone I know and trust from the Wall then toss them out to the wolves.

The ONLY reason you don't see the FAP tag on my posts, is because I can't handle all the work I've got to do right now as it is, but if things ever slowed down, you can bet that the FAP ad would be first on the list of monies well spent.

Find a Professional

I've gotten a lot of calls from my FAP ad over the years and it has pretty much put me on the map in some areas where my company hadn't been known before.

Not all calls lead to work, but they all lead to an opportunity of some kind.

I've had multiple callers refer me to others even after not using me for their own projects.

I'm only saying this because I'm surprised at how many professionals on The Wall still haven't gotten an ad.

There was a recent offer for a free trial and I thought that would open the floodgates for everyone to take the plunge.

I'm not sure it's good business practice to divulge my "success secrets" but on this far-reaching forum, I feel it's warranted.

I think it's more related to your geographical area & economy. I have not had any calls from mine.
That being said, I would think Dan's free ad offer would have attracted tons of businessmen.At least to see if it would work for you.

It's a great idea,

I did it for a couple years and didn't get any response, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't if I kept it up. I didn't get any response from Yellow Pages either, but I think it's also a good form of advertising. My market area seems to be a bit different than other areas. It's changing, but most people don't even know what radiant, steam, or hydronics are here. I educate them at the homeshows. I may do the FAP again in the future. Kevin

Are you sure?

How can you be so sure you didn't get calls from it? Do you always ask?
I don't have a Yellow Page ad because I don't seem to benefit from one, but FAP has been good.

Has the free offer expired? I remember reading about it but didnt respond in time I guess. I did check and there is nobody within 50 miles of me.

This may be obvious but..

My sdvice, RianS, is to word your ad well...or let someone help you with it. A bad ad is worse than no ad in my experience.
