Health Care

or heard about GM's propsal to some of it's workers to buy the responsibilty for their health insurance away from them? They will give the workers indicated, 140,000 dollars if they waive their future health benefit rights. What's going on here? Does GM see the writing on the wall, and is trying to bail out before health care costs go totally crazy. What is the future of health care? How will medicare and medicaid hold up to those who have no coverage after retiring? What ever happened to the idea of national health care? Would you take the money from GM? WW

An off topic rant...
At the risk of being trashed for going off topic, I'll add my two cents to this one. Don't say I didn't warn you:
The US is in big trouble. Inflation is running out of control as the Fed prints more and more money to fund our drunken spending. It is being hidden from the people by removing fuel and food from the cost of living index and permitting cheap crap to be imported for mass consumption.
American's domestic consumables are being replaced with cheap imported imitations. The average guy, who never buys a Ward elbow or a pound of copper hardly notices this inflation. Those who buy real estate or real quality products, or medical care do.
As we gradually earn a third-world nation status, our leaders will do everything they can to maintain the appearance that all is better than ever. They'll relax loan guidelines; they'll keep young folks out of the workforce.
Large businesses must madly cut expenses. Benefits like health care will be among the first to vanish. Pensions will not be far behind. They will be branded as "excessive" and their receipients as "greedy double dippers". People who work with their hands will always have an upper edge as folks always need heat and water. But beware, building codes will be relaxed to lower costs and provide work for the less skilled and the new immigrants.
Why are we giving away our country? Simply to permit its merging into one world order and one world government.
That's the plan guys. I'm willing to bet on it.

Nice rant
Kind of bleak though. I'm thinking I would take the money and count on decent health and investments. Kinda scary though. When my Dad took ill he had coverage from his job of 40 years with IBM. He was supposed to be well taken care of. IBM had snipped and cut and compromized the coverage so we had to be very careful about what we could have done and so on. My wife has coverage at her work until she retires. She would have to have worked at her place of emplyment for 30 years to get covered. We had her stay home with the kids until they were in school full time so that was not possible. It don't look good for us. WW
