pro-press problem
I lost the thread (no wisecracks now!) on the 2" pro-press leak issue with the "limey" pipe. I'm assuming that some answers have been forthcoming, since I can't imagine that any manufacturer, rep or supplier would go suicidal and stall on something like this. Who stepped up to the plate. I ain't givin up my pro-press, but...0 -
Jerry -I posted on the propress problem (2" only) a week or so ago.
The local Viega rep picked up our battery propress tool (left us with a cord tool to use) and took the copper tubing and leaking fittings with him last Friday (17). The suspicion is a problem with the tool--but don't know yet.
They responded promptly and appear eager to solve this.
When we get an answer (which I hope is definative) I will post the outcome of this.

Eager indeed - Thanks for the response, and I'm waiting to hear the results along with a few others I would bet. I just had a micro-pinhole show up on a 1" 90 through the copper itself past the connection. I can accept this in the stuff happens mode (although they're gonna pay), but connection failure is a whole different matter. Thanks Ed0 -
Jerry,
I am anxious to get a result on this as the job I am on is supposed to go propress and is a big piping job. Can't have leaks.
Did you only have 1 1" fitting leak??

We had our 100B (battery powered 1/2, 3/4, 1") giving us trouble. Not crimping joints completely every time. The Viega rep came right out, sent ours back to Ridgid, left us his personal loaner. Our tool came back about 10 days later with new 3/4" jaws. Supposedly a jaw defect (cracked). No problems since. I'm really happy with the prompt attention to our concerns.

Yeah Ed, just the one, and I've put in a trainload. Also remember it was not the actual connection that failed but the copper elbow, and I've had any number of bad copper sweat fittings over the years. That's acceptable to me, after all, perfection angers the Gods; your situation requires a reeeeel good answer. In the words of Moses, they'll have to pry that tool out of my dead, cold fingers, but this still needs to be resolved.0 -
Right on. That's the kind of answer I'm looking for in Ed's case.0
