Combustion Analyzer
I am fairly new to the trade and need to purchase a combustion analyzer for testing boilers. Can anyone recommend a good but affordable tester, or ones to avoid? Would be used on regular and condensing boilers.

I like my Testo
but you'll see plenty of people here who like their Bacharachs. Both brands have a pretty good record.

Anylizer ?
I like the speed with the Bacharach Fyrite Pro 125. We've had one for almost 2 years now with a fair amount of use and 0 troubles. It helps that the rep is 2 towns away when it comes to supplies arriving in a timely manner.
Customers also like the printer once it is explained to them what's going on. They see the tags hanging from their boilers for all service and are quite surprized when the printer spits out a print out that cannot be "adjusted" to read the same as the last 10 services.(some of those tags are downright lies!) I am an industrial boiler technician. My combustion analyzer is my most important tool. When setting up a burner that is in excess of 300,000,000 BTU you need a good analyzer. I have found Ecom to be the best that money can buy. However for the average residential contractor I would recomend the Testo 330-1.0 -

Ecom combustion analyzer
Josh,
Would you please elaborate on that Ecom analyzer that you mentioned. I've had my Lynn 7600 for years, and it's been very reliable and economical to maintain. I've been considering a Kane-May, but I'm concerned about its origin and what I might expect for product support. Like you, I use mine for industrial burners. Thanks!

Great Craig !
When I started out on my own, that Lynn kit was the second thing I bought.(needed a good vacuum first). It is still in remarkable shape and stands in when the Bacharach has to be serviced or while waiting for parts replacement. Only had to wait for printer paper so far....
I can tune a boiler to within very respectable numbers, even though there are no means to test for CO. Once you learn what your looking for and compare the "digital test kits" to this tried but true relic, it seems to all fall right in line. Of course, I will always go back with the Fyrerite to CMA. Curious
What is an acceptable CO level for an "industrial" burner?

Bacharach
I've got a Pro 125 with the printer, It works well but has a poor design to attach seperate hoses, they have changed it on the new ones now to be like a "quick disconnect" I was told by Bacarach that you can have the older hoses retro-fitted with the new ends.
