Famous Whistler

Ken, the famous whistler was Elmo Tanner. He played with Ted Weems (Perry Como's first band)

CD's are available.

Elmo could whistle a note in 3 octaves (triplet) at the same time. Also recorded many themes for Walt Disney cartoons.

Yeah,

but did he whistle by the hour or the song...

My fave is still Toots Thielmanns. He started with Peggy Lee and still plays harminica and whistles on many heavie's CD's as a "sideman." He also won the "downbeat" whacko instrument award for best whistler.

Ran into a buzz saw Monday from Minneapolis. The weather around JFK was so bad they off-loaded us after the initial two hour delay and sent us out four hours later - after all de-planed.

Jaye and I got in via plane, subway, train and cab around 1 last night. Six hours at the airport. Oiu vey.
