Ihave a REMS tornado portable and it is a nice machine. I carry a Ridgid 1215 in the truck but, I prefer the Tornado.

Reed 701 Threader
I recently picked up a Reed model 701 (similar to a Ridgid 700) on eBay. This thing rocks - it threads 2" with no problem, only weighs 15.5 lbs, and the "reverse" setting has higher gearing that takes the die head off at 60 RPM.0 -
I own
a few Reed tools myself and although Ridgid is the 600 lb. gorilla of this market both Rothenberger and Reed don't get the credit they deserve, FACT!0 -
We also have a Reed 701-Good machine but a little more delicate. If taken care of it works fine-and sure is a lot lighter. I also have a Rems Amigo wich is a great machine as well but won't take Ridgid or Reed dies-have to use Rems dies.

I prefer the Rems Amigo 2. It's lighter weight makes it less of a burden and it will thread up to 2".0 -
That Tornado by REMS
is without a doubt the nicest machine I have used. I learned on my dads old tripod Toledo, tried Oster, Ridgid, and others.
That REMS is whisper quiet, which makes a huge difference if you run all day long.
I left mine with my old company. I really miss it. It had a nice sturdy two wheel cart option.
