    tub / shower drains

Has anyone , other than myself, ever thought how nice it would be if tub, shower, vanity, etc. drain connections were integrated into their castings? I always hate dealing w/ putty and everything else that goes into making up the connection between the fixture and the dwv piping. I just had my second floor shower drain (18 yrs old) give out this evening. I was unable to remove the nut on the drain so I ended up having to Dremel it out and go to "you know where" at 7:30 pm to get a replacement. Sorry to complain but I hate to work on my own house.

actually Fiat makes some that way

uses the rubber push gaskets, which I hate. But of course, you would have to rip the whole thing out and start over again. Did you use putty or silicone? I prefer putty myself, but I know alot of guys who prefer the silicone. I know you were just venting. Who really wants to work on there own house anyways.

    Putty

I did use putty rather than silicone. I kind of consider silicone a last attempt. I am sure I will have to do this at least 1 more time. I'd rather take apart putty than silicone.

    Silicone

With 100% silicone you might not have to take it apart again. EJW

& the Shoemaker goes without shoes,

The grocer eats fast food, the carpenter has doors hanging on leather for hinges, and as a plumber my wife has been after me to move the outhouse for almost a year! We all love to work on our own stuff!
