We're adding a 19x22' extension to our 1937 2 story colonial. The extension includes a full basement, single family room above it, and a single master bedroom above that. We have a single pipe steam system which works well. Who is the best kind of heating professional to call to determine the best way to heat these new spaces? Someone needs to determine whether the existing boiler is sufficient, and whether we could tap into the existing steam lines. Can we run baseboard heat off the existing boiler (I know the pressure differences are extreme)? We have natural gas, by the way. And if we go the steam route, what about the new basement, which is on the same level as the boiler? Thanks in advance for anyone's insight.0 -
SOME IDEAS,
its hard to say without seeing it (capacity and routing must be determined), but in the upper level you can definately do baseboard, slant fin multipak 80 is a great choice made specifically for that. for the lower level a possible hot water loop below the water level of the boiler is possible too. These are some ideas, best bet is to get a reputable contractor out there to look at it, look here under finding a professional. Search here for mad dog, he's a great choice as well as others, I think he is close to you0
