Roth Panels

I was asked to look at a job with Roth Panels installed over an existing floor. The 1/4" cement board is about to be installed, with tapcon screws per Roth installation instructions. The tile guy came on the job and said he wants the cement board fully adhered to the panels (not just screwed). He thinks tapcon will work loose over time. Roth says no to fully adhering the cement board; tile guy said he won't warranty the installation.

will not warrant their product on the bond between the aluminum and the cement board. Follow the Roth installation guide and let them stand behind the constructio method. They have deeper pockets then your tile guy does anyway :-)

If you have any questions call Roth's Technical Department at 401-267-9044

Personally I'd use 3/8" board..... elastasizer in the mastic and grout. I have this installation in a lot of places. No problems yet.

    3/8\" board

    Thanks for the response.

Maybe a high limit will satisfy the tile guy. Roth has been helpful, just printed instructions from Roth says:

"It is always important to coordinate any radiant heating with the flooring contractor prior to panel installation! The flooring contractor will then be able to incorporate any special requirements felt needed for the installation."

    Seems you would want

slip sheet between the aluminum and the CBS's as the expansion rate will be different?

    hot rod
