So~~~~~~ask them about the problem. I Bet there is some catch that is eating the units. and D-T could be one. It may be that a simple recirculating pump (primary, secondary)pumping scheme would fix it! As has been beat around here on the wall a lot! those boilers should last till you get tired of the age of them. Good luck!

Delta T
I do work at a convalescent home that had a cogeneration system installed 2years ago. They installed 5 Burnham P210 boilers as back up. Since October of 2004 they have replaced 7 boilers because of cracked sections due to thermal shock (this is what I belive).
Are there techical resources for safe operating delta T for boilers? Thank you for your assistance.0 -
Glenn Stanton is the go-to guy at Burnham
and he is one of the best in the industry. Burnham has a good product line- my V-14 is 22 years old and still Burnhaming well enough that I haven't replaced it- but if something does go wrong they want to know about it, and will do their best to help you out.

The questions I have
are if they have replaced boilers seven times in this building in the past seven months, has anyone representing our company been to this jobsite to see what exactly might be going on? There are just too many methods available out there that can allow a boiler to safely operate within a system that is running at lower temperatures. Thermostatic bypass or diverter valves, primary-secondary piping, boiler loop piping and variable speed injection with return water temperature monitoring are just a few of these methods. It sounds as though there are some real extremes occuring here to have caused this many boilers to crack in this very short period of time. E-mail me if you wish and I will get someone on this one if they are not already involved. Hope this helps.
