to much oil

removed a leaky svc valve on a chiller with a 06d comp and got about 2 gallons of oil with it. why did somuch oil come out where i pulled this high side valve off which was 8ft from comp?

If it is a packaged chiller.....
and not subject to piping design problems, the most common cause of poor oil return to the compressor is improper superheat settings. Too high and the oil may not return properly, too low and it may wash out of the crankcase.0 -
Comming out of winter
Q: Was the chiller comming out of winter shutdown mode? If so Oil and ref. tends to migrate to the cooler parts of the chiller which is near the Barrel. Was this the LLSV that you replaced? Had the chiller been running all winter?0
