Thanks for posting that. Its what this site is all about. I am not a major contributor, but when I can I do, mostly lurk and learn about hydronics, a rel;atively small part of my market. It allows me to do superior work.

Thank You John S. and Wallies - Troubleshooting Success!

John S. of Detroit posted his success in finally correcting my troubled two pipe Trane Vapor system (see post below entitled, Correction of NearBoilerPiping on New Steam Boiler Install). When I moved into this Detroit area vintage 4800 sqft home five years ago we had numerous problems - parts of the house were not heating at all, cracked boiler sending steam up the chimney....blah, blah, blah. I hired numerous reputable steam "experts" to NO avail. Even the company I hired to install the boiler, did the install incorrectly!

About two years ago I came across this site and began to learn more than I would ever care to know about my steam system - thanks to Dan's books and the many Wallies who took the time to answer my questions and advise me. I installed a new boiler, but obviously selected a knucklehead as I still had NO HEAT on one side of the house and horrible hammer.

Luckily, during my hours spent visiting this site, I ran across posts from John S. It didn't take long for me to learn he was from Detroit. I contacted him through his email I found on his posts....the rest is history - he corrected return problems, properly vented my mains, and tested all my steam traps. I now have a system that is taking on no fresh feed, cycles beautifully, heats quickly and QUIETLY. I can't wait to see the difference in my gas usage next season....I expect it to be way down with much more even comfort throughout my home.

I am so glad I visited this site and received help from so many wallies, including John S. He addressed my heating system as a SYSTEM - I strongly urge anybody in the Detroit area who needs steam system troubleshooting to give drop John S. an email.....I am sure he will be able to help you out....
