Dan has written several times that if they can't get the system to work, they clean the boiler room to the point where you can eat off the floor.

job
Where do you find these "operating room" mechanical rooms to work in? Most customers say "put it there!" & then build a wall around it so it can't be seen. Then pile junk around it until it quits or burns. I get one of those rooms once in 5-10 yrs.0 -
I'll bet
I'll bet you took your vacation in Germany. That does not look like a N. American installation, eh???
If it is, somebody knows what they're doing!!

very sharp looking mech room*~/:)
how did you talk them into the tiled floors?0 -
My bet is it's a NA install...
... because of the fields Barometric damper, the Safeguard LWCO, the NA-style telephone box, the NA-style wiring, the use of wooden I-beams, the Golds differential controller, etc...
... and I'll bet an ice cream that the muffler is from Buderus...
Anyway, and most importantly, I love the attention to detail. The insulation was done superbly, the pipes are off the wall, plumb, happy. A lucky customer indeed!0 -
NICE job,
whoever did the cutting of the black arma flex insulation, did a GREAT job. The 45* cuts are tight.

Vitola
On this system I have one high and two low temperature circuits. I use the vitola for completely low temperature applications unless the customer specs. the vitola or the job requires the extra BTUs that the VB2-63 puts out over the VR2-63.0 -
muffler
I got the silencer from Viessmann and it works on any boiler. They really cut down on the high frequency sound; this mechanical room is right below the living-room.
I believe someone owes me an ice-cream.0 -
tiles
I showed the customer some photos of what a mechanical room could look like with tiled floors and explained that this area is square footage of their home that they must build and pay taxes on. I find it becomes a more useful area especially in smaller homes. When the time comes to service the boiler, there is almost a joy to it.0 -
blowoff
I have never had a problem with black pipe to date . In my last three jobs I have used stainless which I think lasts longer and looks great.0
