will put a slight flare to the ends of the plates, to prevent any tube issues, if a re-do is not in the plan.

    Extruded HT Plates Misaligned

I was at a site yesterday where the contractor was concerned that the previous contractor (off the job, never to return) had been sloppy in installing some HT plates. They are typically installed with a 4" space between each one, and are misaligned enough that the tubing appears a little skewed. The contractor thinks the sharp ends of the u-channel will eat into the tubing over time. System is O/D reset but not constant circulation, so there will be some heat/cool cycles. I said I didn't know but I'd find out, so here I am. Do I need to tell him to open up the ends of each u-channel to prevent future problems?

    Getting Straight

Yes, the sharp edges can be a concern for damaging the tubing. The plates should be installed on exact centerlines to reduce friction between plates, if skewed.

Fix it....or expect problems down the road.
