If sticking with oil i would say a buderus g115 a very good unit service friendly with small features that do make a difference like excellent well insulated boiler ,no combustion chamber kit to replace , baffles to lower stack temp and very easy to get completly clean .And for gas i would do a condensing modulating boiler like a munchkin i believe it is a great value for the money i have installed a weil ultra and was not to impressed personally it's probaly a good unit but i did not like certain things about it .The big sale thing for me is that most chimmey do require a liner kit and by the time you add that into the equation of a conventinal boiler the direct vent munchkin has it beat plus they are very quite the t50 and t80 i reacentinstalled where very quite like a small refregerator .hope this helps peace and good luck clammy

    Best boiler for the buck

Just did a new heat loss calc, figuring the changes since the old boiler went in in 1956. At 29,500 BTU/HR loss, I figure I'll need a 48K boiler. I am not looking for a unit with more bells and whistles than the Good Humor Man, but I would like the best bang for the buck. I like what I've heard about the Trinity . . . I've even thought of installing a Utica fixed-firing unit. To be honest, I am not sure what boiler I really want to use, and I have been putting this job off for several years hoping to find the right boiler to fill my needs. A few suggestion, please. I think I'll go with sealed combustion. My old boiler is oil fired and it's been in use since 1956, so I'd like to get away from the old chimney. Thanks

Just a guy running some pipes.

  • keep your chimney, just add a liner. A chimney always works, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A power venter doesn't. I chimney doesnt ruin the exterior of your home a power venter does.

Please keep your own chimney,.. for your own bennefit.

If you MUST powervent, I highly recommend System 2000
