Goodman Gas Furnace

Good Morning,
I am a Home Inspector In Mass.
I have a client who recently had a Goodman Gas furnace heat exchanger replaced by Goodman.
The furnace was only 4 years old.
Goodman identifed a crack in the heat exchanger.

The question is they are still getting 9-12 PPM of Carbon Monoxide Coming ut of the distribution vents in the bedrooms.

Any thoughts here...

    other appliances?

are there any other gas appliances, dryers, stoves, ovens, gas water heater, gas fireplace, portable fuel heater?

Is 9-12 ppm constant, 24 hours a day?

    CO

Number 1: Good job checking for and finding the CO contamination!!!!

Number 2: Check for other sources/appliances

Number 3: Look real closely at the venting for the furnace and other appliances. Check the Goodman installation manual if available.

Number 4: I have found many furnaces with field replaced HX's that have problems. It's a difficult job to do correctly under field conditions. You may still have issues in the furnace. Check the ambient air in the return and then the supply, with the burner operating of course, to see if the furnace is adding CO to the airstream.

    when the heat exchanger

was replaced, did they redo the gaskets? is it a high or mid. one pipe or 2, sufficient combustion air? (50 cu.ft / 1000 btu/hr input). Is it in a garage and if yes, are the ducts sealed?

Turn on the blower with no heat..still getting CO? other source, CO drops off, furnace is still the problem.

    co from cars

What is the outside, ambient CO? Do the people smoke? Any candles or oil lamps used? Any handicapped person charging their wheelchair or other battery charging? Garage or running car near house? The advice to just run the fan to see if the co drops is good advice. Chasing 10 parts of CO can take some time.

    Whole house fans

If they're getting CO this time of year amd it's still kinda warm out they may be running a whole house fan. I've see this create a negative pressure situation in the house causing the water heater to back draft. Window fans I guess could even do it in the right situation.
