water heater for radiant floor heating

I am using 2 electric tank type water heaters to power my radiant floor heat in my home. Each is 10.5 KW. The water heaters are piped in parallel. They do not keep up with the demand. Cold days the water temp drops to below 100. I thought about repiping in series. Any suggestions? Open to new system of heating water for floor heat.

    for starters....

was a heat loss done? I would start w/ that and figure out if you have enough pipe in the floor to make it work...then work on anouther heat source...Is that your only source of heat? kpc

Like he said, was a heat loss done? When you say 10.5 Kw do you mean 10.5Kw total? (meaning both elements work together simultaneously as opposed to only one coming on at a time --like a standard elec. wtr htr)

After a heat loss is done, divide btu heat loss by 3,412 and this will be your Kw requirements.

    define the destination first

then we can help with a map to get you there. You NEED to know the heat load of the space to answer your question.

Changing the piping will not increase the output in any way.

  • two electric heaters?

As others said, needs to know the heat loss datas, however, water temp drop to 100 degrees on cold days .... Sounds like lacks of under slab and side insulations which often ingored(sp) by gen contractor...
