Congrats Dave! I had the privilage to teach 5 simesters at BOCES night school.

Humbaling to think people would give up 25 hours in the evening to listen to me show them my trade.

Make sure you save enough time to be GrandPah

to those who thirst! What a great group of students I had today - can't wait for tomorrow till I get to challenge them again.

Imagine your thirst for knowledge is deep and you are presented with the Burnham Heating Helper booklet and Dan's Pumping Away book..... Like sponges, they are(G).

They excelled today. Tomorrow, they soar a wee bit.

My hat's off to all you teachers out there. It takes a ton of work to be prepared.

    No way

better than nothing, but not you or anyone else. I'm still trying to catch up to far too many - like ME for instance, who teaches on a much more regular basis. I'm just getting started(G).

Yesterday was the first time they'd been given written assignments. They either do hands-on lab work or sit for lectures. See, they didn't catch on to the fact that it was a lecture. The diff was it was an interactive brain-stretching lecture on real-world conditions, issues, mistakes and customer relationships. Today will cram in a few more issues and, this time, they'll be getting up to survey the building for its heat loss. A hard look at some of the lab work too and why it's not installed up to our standards - mostly a neatness thing. Job site safety will again be prominently featured.

Scott, it did feel great. There's so far to go though. It's far too easy to forget what we knew 36-years ago(G) and how to bring them forward at light speed.

    I probable

allready told you this but, about a year ago I was asked ( at the last minute ) to speak to some trade school kids.

I just talked about my business and what I liek in the industry. Afterwards some of them came down to say hello and tell me how much they liked what I had to say. It was like a high, I felt really good.

Its nice to know your making a difference.

I went down to my local high school last week and spoke to the guidance councelor. I told her that many of the guys ( and gals ) who I graduated with are running thier own business and would she like me to put together some of them to speak to the kids on career day. She was Very excited and said she'd get back to me. I hope it happens.

Keep up the good work Dave. You inspired me aI even am growing a little chin hair just like you ! Ask Dan :)

Congratulations on those feelings. To experience people soaking up the knowledge you've got to offer, knowing that they will put it to use to accomplish their goals or objectives is worth the work of preparation. You feel like a million bucks! Hand's on is always a plus, in my experience because it only drives home what you're lecturing. Students want to touch, see, or take apart what they are going to work with, especially when you take away or expose the mystery of it. I tell my students that there is no majic in heating (evenif it appears that way sometime). Keep up the good work! I'm a heating instructor with NYC housing authority, so our heating plant technicians need to see, touch and take apart as many things I can get my hands on from small one pipe systems to 30 story variable vacuum systems. And as usual, I'm late in reading and posting. You can't imagine the minds you mold and the future of the individuals you affect. maddoctorq@aol.com

Repitition ain't so bad; they rarely listen the first time around anyway. The hard part is not letting it become babel. Good on you both. I know I always loved it when some old farkle would come in and break up the day, not as good as a movie of course, but I did pay attention. Keep up the good work.
