    Who uses an inspection Camera

I was just offered an inspection Camera system by a retired HVAC man. Do any of you use one ? I looked up the cost new about $1295.00. This one is offered for $450.00. it is a 2003 model

I was amazed at the clarity I was able to read a book with the wand.

    Feedback welcome

    I have used them

to check out potential obstructions and condition of piping which was fun. Not sure of the cost or value, it belonged to the client. Looked like a closeup of the lunar or martian landscape. Should have sold some shots to NASA.

Sure it was an HVAC guy and not a proctologist? Check references...

    The Inspector camera

    Terry,

We have 6 of The Inspector cameras that are manufactured by Shamrock Industries. The stated use of the camera is for determining the status of a furnaces' heat exchanger. We also use it for checking the inlet side of evaporator coils, duct systems. and anything else that would allow you to see something that you otherwise would not have access to.

I don't think that this camera lens can be used in a "wet" atmosphere (such as a drain line) and the neck on it is only 3' long. It does give extremely clear image though.

For what it's worth, these cameras cost around $2,000 each and can be hooked up to a VCR.

    Camera

I borrowed a plumber friend's sewer cam to inspect a chimney liner. Amazing tool. The audio is quite humorous with the obligitory proctology jokes and all. I think I could rig up a small web cam device for HX inspection for a fraction of the cost of job specific tools though I really haven't looked into it.

We have owned this system http://www.moritexusa.com/products/product.php?plid=2&pcid=40&pid=105

For a few years. It is a tool worth it's weight in gold. We have used it to look in places we could not or would go. The camera will pay for it self in short order as it is a great sales tool.
