anticipator setting
The anticipator should be set to the rating of the control to which it is attached. Most control these days have that rating stamped on them or in their literature. You can also use a meter.

Anticipator
I usually bury the anticipator with today's boilers. Given the load values of the gas valve,flue damper low water cut off, zone valves,etc. I find that you need to bury(move it all the way towards longer) it to keep the boiler from short cycling.

what is the T-Stat connected to? a gas furnace/ Boiler or Oil Burner? Their should be an amprage rating/current draw marked on your control match that to the setting on your T-Stat.0
