Attached are 3 pictures of the boiler.
I have checked out The Wall and just contacted a couple of folks I found on there. Most of the listings seemed to be hydronic/radiant floor specialists and I was looking for a Steam guy. Perhaps they're one in the same I'll try contact a couple of more.
Thanks again,
David

Hi,
First, thanks to Dan for an excellent site. I stumbled upon it recently and have been reading everything on it that I can to prepare myself for my new (old!) house.
I have purchased a Victorian with a two-pipe steam radiator heating system. The boiler is probably 55-60 yrs old. The house is in fantastic shape but the heating situation makes me nervous.
I'm looking to find an experienced Steam guy in Northern Mass (Amesbury). If you know one please forward their contact info my way.
Here are the options I've been researching:
1. Keep the steam system and just replace the boiler w/ something new and more efficient.
2. Replace the steam system w/ a hot water system. If so would this be a baseboard system or could it use the current radiators?
Thanks in advance for your help!
David

Keep the steam
You probably have a Vapor system, which was the Cadillac of heating in its day and is still one of the better systems out there. Take some pics of a couple radiators as well as the piping around the boiler, look for company names on old rad valves, traps, etc and we should be able to ID it.
