install a T-50M Munchkin and 1 radiator for now

The boiler might not be too happy just driving one small load all winter. I'd honestly check with HTP before proceeding.

I took back a Takagi Jr. as recommended by a local supply house and decided to to with a Munchkin T-50. I am confused by different contractors preferences for monoflow vs. zone valve recommendations. I have done the heat loss calcs and understand the theory somewhat but I don't have the experience to know the pros/cons. I only have one really cold room to deal with this winter. My old Holly Stubby gravity unit will have to do one more winter for one end of the house. Question. Does it make sense to just install the wall hung Munchkin along with 1/25 hp pump , expansion tank and only the items necessary so I can put in just one Buderus or Myson radiator in the room that has no heat? It will buy me more time to decide how the design for the rest of the house will go. I don't want to buy/install a Rinnai 431 to get me through the winter just because I have a gas connection in that room...but then regret later that the room doesn't have the more appealing attributes that the radiator will offer.

You're suggesting hooking up the boiler to supply just one room until next year when it will supply the entire structure? Realize that the Munchkin modulates, but is this a big room? Unless electric rates are extremely high in your area you might be better off heating that one room electricially.

What type of emitters in the rest of the house?

There are no emitters in the rest of the house. In this northern california coastal area, everyone comes out of their bedroooms (at one end of an 1800 sq. ft home) in the morning to stand over the grate of the gravity unit.

Thanks for the reality check. I'll verify with HTP.
