    Oh My !

Nice install. The only thing I need to ask is about the expansion tank.

Was a floor standing model not available? I think the top of the diaphram may be subject to some air, making its failure a bit premature the way it's laying on it's side.
Again , nice work Ron, and I'm just asking, not critisizing Chris

    Excellent Craftsmanship

Very pleasing to the eye. I have not had the chance to install the Buderus mixing block yet. It looks like a real time saver and just looks like it belongs there. The GB 142 is THE most quiet boiler I have ever installed ( and yes we have installed the Vitodens and the Munchkins). It also is the easiest to service out of all of them. Keep up the nice work, Ron. Your customers are getting their dollars worth.

    expansion tank

The tank water side is under pressure and full of water, it can be horizontal, upside down or right side up. I hate changing tanks that are hanging over a boiler or behind smoke pipe or piping and it is hard to support while taking it out and it's full of water. We typically use a #60 on an average size system, do they make a floor model in that size? We do use floor models on bigger systems.

    Credit goes to Nathan

My son does 99% of the mechanical work now, I get pushed aside because I am not as meticulous. If I do something that is a fraction of an inch off from anything else, he'll change it once I leave.

P.S. yes that is today...and the only thing that can see the rehau ,covered with tin foil 10 inches to the deck, behind the boiler is that little three eyed fish :) hes sorta swimmin "free" down there under the ice :)
  • Beatiful craftsmanship

to you and yor son , Ron . How do you lay out a job like that ? Do you make a piping schematic beforehand or do it freestyle when you start the job ? Gotta admit I'd be clueless on how to lay out a complicated pipejob like that .

    layout

I usually do a drawing using Visio, then when we start the job we sometimes have to revise it a little depending on the room we have. In this case The plumber had to take an area for drainage etc. so we changed our layout a few times before we actually started putting it together. Nathan and I argue for a while, he won, and he came up with most of this layout himself.

I've been seeing these mixing blocks on many pics here on the Wall. What do they do and how & when are they used? WW

    Mixing Blocks

For radiant, two have a motorized mixing valve, bypass diferential valve, circulator(sized accordingly) isolation valves, and supply and return temperature gauges, all housed in an insulated enclosure. This system has two of the radiant blocks( we have slabs, and tube and plate applications here) and one for the high temperature block for the baseboard and hydro-air zones. along the bottom of the blocks is a hydronic seperator that comes in handy when hooking up more than one of these blocks.

    Beautiful...

    Kudos to your son.

We mount the expansion tanks on 1-5/8" uni-strut and 10" pipe clamps. Makes for a nice, clean solid mount.

It's called a Sicard mount after the guy that introduced it to me. Noel Sicard, AKA Leon Dracis...

    Really nice job

Really enjoy seeing different applications and how you guys fit them in. Not often i get to see mixing and pumping stations and low loss headers. Quality work is always a good dollar spent. Keep up the good work.
