Can some one tell me what is involved getting a boiler certified,
And does it have any relavance these days?
Should I install ONLY boilers, condensing units with approval, or are heaters just as good, like GB142,and tankless water heaters used only for heat. and why are tank type water heaters allowed. What similar requirements are needed in Europe, since they are trying to compete in our N.A market.

A seperate question: Does anyone have any experience with BAXI ?
    ( H stamped approved)

    Baxi

I can tell you a few of the advantages to a Baxi boiler. This is an "H" stamped boiler. You will find the stamp on the front of the combustion chamber. Some of the advantages to this boiler is it is a direct vent boiler, it has an outdoor sensor that plugs into the control board for sensing outdoor temperature, you can adjust the gas valve to the BTU required from your heat loss, it shows all diagnostics on the front panel, there are switches on the control board for constant circulation, setting the outgoing temperature for radiant. There is a sensor that will prevent freezeups. When the boiler senses 41 degrees it will fire until it achieves 86 degree, The list goes on...It is a well thought out boiler that most importantly is sold to the trade only....

    Be careful

about the claims you make about trade only, FACT!

More than one OEM has said that and it backfired. We are all working with wholesalers in one form or another, FACT!

BTW, look what popped up when I typed BAXI into Yahoo!

That URL page is not there.
However this one is and it is an American Co.

    http://www.houseneeds.com/shop/HeatingProducts/boilers/baxi/baxiboilermainpage.htm

I went to a BAXI class, and also was told it would only be sold to the trades in my area.

But still, a good looking unit, and they will have a condensing unit in June.
They are Italian made and British owned and the largest producer and seller in Europe.

Has anyone have a feedback on installation and reliability?

    Baxi

I've put in a couple and they do work well. The venting needs to be close to an outside wall or you can spend some dough on pipe. They have everything in the box just run the lines to the manifolds for less than 1800 tubing.

There is a seattle internet co that will sell them to anyone with cash in hand.

I know that Baxi is interested in shutting down ANY internet resellers. If they are being sold and the wholesaler selling them gets caught they will be shut off. FACT !. If I am not mistaken House Needs was a product of that... They are third largest in Europe and they sell over 470,000 boilers a year under many names within the Baxi SPA company. They have some impreesive boilers/ideas... Bob

    HUH?

You're entitled to your opinion, but in mine it's not if the whole world does it!
