Anyone intersted in learning more about the TankSure Program, you can visit our website at www.bostonenv.com.

The TankSure Program is the oil industries first and only tank testing and proactive tank replacement program. It is widely used by oil dealers and service companies throughout the United States and Canada.

For TECHNICIANS, the tank testing program is approved by the NORA Education and Training under its recertification program for Gold and Silver.

For HOMEOWNERS, they can visit our website at www.bostonenv.com and enter the "HOMEOWNERS" section. They can type in their current service provider and zip code to find oil dealers and/or service companies that currently provide the "piece of mind" program.

There are many benefits asssociated with the TankSure Program for the oil service dealers, homeowners, real estate and insurance industries, to name a few.

    tank safe program

Boston Envirnment is the main insurance company offering the program through oil companies. I worked for an oil company for 2 years. I think I remenber how the program works, First you pay the oil company extra $$$ to be in the program, 2nd the oil company puts a little ball in your tank with a oil delivery (It works like an anode rod for water tank, the idea being any water in the tank will eat the ball instead of the tank). 3rd the oil company checks the tank with a gauge usually during their annual service, to check the gauge thickness of the tank. And finally if your tank fails the test based on any weak parts of the tank, the oil company pays for $1,000 towards the install of a new tank. The $1,000 will not cover the total replaced cost of a new tank in most cases, but a good chunk. Their are only two problems with this program, for starters after so many claims that the insurance company receives from the oil company, eventually the oil company will be dropped from the program in the middle of the year. Question is will the oil company honor the 100's of customers that they sold tank pertection to through the year, when they themselves are no longer reversed by the oil company. The second issue is the reliability of the tank test performed with the test equipment supplied by boston envirnmental. From experience with changing out around 3 or 4 tanks a week, The test isn't reliable ar all. Every tank I changed out in the field for two weeks straight, I tested with their equipment that they supplied to my company. Fact (Every tank we changed that was leaking or weaping was tested and passed by the stardards set-up by the insurance company). I guess it's a good program if your looking for some extra protection for a old tank you may have. Just make sure that the oil company is going to stand by the agreement if they are dropped throughout the year of the tank program. Tank are only last around 15 years in most cases, although I've seen many in the field around 30 or 40 years old. My advise to you is not to mess around, if your tank is older switch it out, its not worth the headaces. I've cleaned many of oil spills in basements (not pretty) In most cases your homeowners policy will not cover the spill and cleanup because its considered hazardess waiste(read your policy) and the insurance company for the oil company will fight the clean-up costs also. If you don't mind spending a few extra $$$$$ look into Roth oil tanks, they are double lined poly tanks that have a lifetime leak guaranty that covers replacement cost and also cleanup cost if it were to leak' somewhere in the neihborhood of upto 1,000,000.00.I hope this answered most of your questions.
