Poor service can sure slow them down. It's time to think about a new unit.

This ones for you
Can any one tell me what factory option this is?
If you know please don't reply.0 -
That would be a
on the job retro fit economizer. Craftsmanship at it's best.0 -
The real gas is that this unit had a fully functional economizer installed.0 -
THP
Was this unit working? Looks like it's had a long life.0 -
It depends
The unit would freeze up in ac mode.
The store temp. would average about 5*F cooler than the outside air temp. This unit got a few wholesale changes to get it back running good.0 -
It depends again.........
On what your definition of "working" is.
What did it take to get the unit in shape Tom?
BTW are you going to post pics of the AC coil with two TXV's on it? I about flipped when you called and told me about that one.0 -
Steve
The service ticket looked like an abridged version of the Webster dictionary. In short, clean in and out coils, new belt, add gas to make up for what was taken out for the high head pressure, clean blower assembly, patch big hole in unit, new contactor stage 1, filters, adjust economizer.
Unit went from 20# to 65# suction. This was all done 100 miles from home. Here is a couple of pictures from that job you asked about. Nice coil.0 -
That's an industrial
bug-zapper! I had no idea Trane made them. Must be in the tropics where the palmetto bugs can fly.

No
The REAL gas is the 'economizer' is right next to the flue gas discharge.
At least it looks like that to me.

I take it that
We are looking at the bottom of the coil in pic 1460? My stars....... makes you wonder what the other "techs" that looked at the thing were thinking.
The twin TXV setup just cracks me up. How could anyone do such a thing and what were they thinking if they knew the other TXV was there?
It's truly a great trade when you are provided with "comedianic" (izat a word) relief on the job site.0 -
I'll bet
They cut the hole in there to try and get the head pressure down. Right?0 -
Steve
The hole must have been cut to get a colder coil ie: lower discharge air temp. I guess?0 -
Maybe they cut it in
because the filter was plugged and didnt have one on the truck.LOL0 -
is it possible
-That someone cut that hole to help with an undersized return? Hey-maybe it's a viewing port!0 -
Trane
I remember the slogan not just anyboby can install a Trane.
This is living proof. Or was that someone elses slogan.0 -
Airflow
It sure did help the airflow, just none of the air went across the A-C coil. The big hole did make it easy to change the belt. No tools required.0
