still need to go up 24'' above the waterline minumum..the header needs slight pitch, 1/8th'' per foot is fine..thats way more than the 1'' in 20 feet of the mains...the header should at least equal the square inch area of all the take offs..the old hoffman data book says do that plus up it one size..hope this helps.

    Drop Header

    I am wanting to learn more about drop headers. Is there an optimum height above the boiler to start you first elbow? Should the main horizontal header pipe be 1" larger than the boiler take offs? What kind of pitch should the header have back to the equalizer? Looking to correct poor near boiler piping on a V905 A Burnaham. The photos in the library are good but the above questions are not obvious in the photos. Thanks T.
