Trane furnace troubleshoot

I have a trane1999 60k btu xv90 variable speed propane furnace. I don’t use it that often since the price of propane went through the roof. I do use the blower and duct work for my wood furnace tied into the system. I recently went to put on the furnace with out the wood stove and I got nothing. After removing the doors and tripping the door interlock. I checked to make sure the line to the thermostat was ok. The red LED on the board would blink 10 times fast (call for heat) and then it would blink 3. I looked the error code up in the manual and it said it was an inducer problem. I pulled the inducer motor/blower assembly out and took it to my dealer and he tested it and said it was fine.

This where I am today.

Can any one help with this problem? Has this happened to any one else? Where can I get my hands on a Trane tech manual? Any help would be great

Thanks

Wood heat guy.

I had the same problem on a McQuay nat/gas furnace and it turned out to be nothing more than a poor setting on the electrodes. I don't know if Trane has the same set up but it something to look at.............ROOKIE

    Inducer Fan

the sequence of operation for this furnace is as follows,
    on call for heat:

    1. check vent pressure switches, switch open

    2. start inducer fan motor and ramp up until vent switch closes.

    3. Power HSI for programmed period then turn off HSI

    4. open gas valve for 4 seconds

    5. if flame sensed within four seconds start time delay for blower if no flame turn off gass valve and continue inducer purge.

if the motor is not starting check vent switches and make sure that they are open.

if switches are open check thermal disc on fan body should be closed.

if switch closed check hot leg at motor make sure that it is being powered by control board.

If motor is starting but furnace is not firing make sure vent switch is closing, all condensate lines are clear, clean drain pip from heat exchanger, make sure flue and combustion air are clear

    good luck Jim

    if the

pressure switch is stuck the Inducer fan will not run and a trouble code will flash on the board.

    If I understand correctly...........

You have the wood furnace tied into the ductwork coming off the gas furnace and you are using the fan on the gas furnace to move the heat from the wood. Right? OK

How are you triggering the fan on the gas furnace? In other words how does the fan on your VX know when to run?

It sounds like you aren't getting a call for heat to your gas furnace from your thermostat. Do you use a seperate stat for the wood and are they both connected to the gas furnace circuit board?

    My guess is

the pressure switch that proves the inducer fan is on. Let us know. It can fail one of 2 ways. If it;s contacts won't close then the furnace won't ignite. 2 If it gets stuck in the contacts closed posistion then the control board won't let the cycle proceed to ignite. WW

UpDate How many of you have a 6 year old who like to play with the hose? If one were to spray a hose down one of the pipes on the side of the house. Well guess what. I took off the vaccume hoses on the switches and water came out.I sucked the water out and dried them with a fan, and whatdo you know the furnace came on. Thanks for all your help. Answering your question about the fan for the wood stove, I put a spdt switch on the line to the furnace and kept the fan on. I could switch between wood and the furnace witha relay to turn the fan on and off.

One more thing should I replace the pressure switches since they got wet?

    Thanks
