what is the best method of installing a recirulation pump on the return line back to the tank or on the hot water supply with a return line back to the tank one the cold

    Most Indirect WH manufacturers have piping diagrams included in the installation instructions. Without drawing a diagram, a pie should be connected to the outer most points in the hot water distrubution system, install the recirc pump to pull from this recirc line and downstream of the pump install a check valve before T'ing in to the cold water inlet of the water heater. Don't forget to install a check valve on the cold water line leading to the water heater just before (upstream) of where the hot water recir T's into the line. Also donot forget to install your domestic hot water expansion tank somewhere downstream of the cold water inlet check valve.

    I am sure that if someone made a drawing it would be less confusing, I would but I am currently procrastinating working on a big estimate and am too busy!!!!
