Domestic gas fired hot water tanks

Parallel is my choice. If in series, one or the other of the tanks will do the majority of the work. If piping in parallel, be certain the all dimensions are exactly equal or it will defeat the purpose.

Twinning gas fired domestic hot water tanks

What is the concensus- to pipe water side of equal capacity twin hot water tanks in series or parallel. We are having a great debate at our company.

    It really depends on...

...the use. If you need high flow, go with parallel. My experience is that series is less troublesome in practice as no flow imbalance can occur.

    Piping twin domestic h.w.t.

Thanks guys, consensus seems to be, series piping is less trouble, first tank fails much sooner, parallel piping done F.I.L.O. (first in last out) helps balance and give equal flow. Appreciate you input, with the cost of larger tanks and entirely too much money to spend by some people, we find ourselves putting in a lot of twin 40 gal gas.
