    Is there something I can install on my hot and cold pipes to stop the banging when closing the taps?

    Check for loose

    faucet washers first. If OK, you may need a pressure reducing valve to cut back the incoming water pressure.

    How long should the air chamber be and which size pipe to use??

    same size as related piping and 18 " long with cap. if in accessable location provide pet cock to service and bleed to replenish cushon if necessary.
