Need help with Repco model LA100C

What appears to be the air bleeder valve on top of my Repco boiler is covered in crud and leaking water. It is the can-shaped object sticking right out of the top of the unit.
I cannot find manuals on-line, and need to know how this is attached. Right now it swivels around which is alrming. Is it just a pipe thread connection ? Is this a Home Depot item or a special part ?
Saw some bad comments about Repco units on the web. Is this 1981 unit garbage ?
