strange noise

in THE MAIN WALL
A friend of mine called and said he had a strange noise comming from his oil burner. Upon firing it makes a tic tic tic noise like hot water thru baseboard. After a few seconds it stops but at shut off it makes a sound like blood being pumped to the heart. His system is hot water baseboard and I can find no leaks. This has just started and in 10 tears he has never had this noise. He just had the boiler cleaned. Any chance this can be related to an air adjustment? Help please.
