BMW Hydrogen car

BMW designed a hydrogin car that runs on liquid hydrogen. It dos'nt use a fuel ceel but has a combustion engine. Once made commercially it could be dual fuel.

The engine is a 6 liter V-12 that produces 285 horse power.

The liguid hydrogen is stored in a double wall stell tank which has a vacumn between the walls to keep the hydrogen cold enough.

Pretty cools stuff. They think they can make this a viable product.

Can anyone do the math to convert 300 kilomters to mph ? Thats how fast they had this thing going.

Scott

    Conversion

If my little black pocket ref is correct that would be 186.42mph. Conversion multiplier is .62137. Where do I get that set-up for my motorcycle?

    As Richard Trethewey said...

"Just what the heck do these people think is going to happen when all these cars running on hydrogen, spewing nothing but water from their tail pipes is going to do to the roads during the winter..."

Items in rear view mirror may be wetter than they appear.

    Good idea, BUT:-)

    Salt ?

    Snow melt ?

A little water might be better than asbestos from brake linings and exchaust gas .

    Water vapor

There is a good amount of water vapor in auto exhaust currently (witness the water dribbling out of the exhaust pipes of a cold car) and it doesnt cause huge problems. On the other hand the exhaust temps of a fuel cell would be lower... You guys should understand this better than most, you deal with exhausts and condensation all the time.
