parallel boilers to a steam main

What is the correct connection for parallel steam boilers to an overhead horizontal steam main? The steam connection from these boilers connect to the bottom of the main. Seems like they should connect to the top or sides so condensate won't drain into one or the other when only one is operating.

    Well, on the big stuff...

.... a.k.a. the Weil Mclain LGB series, the installation manual shows dropped headers when connecting multiple LGB's to a steam main. I think your theory re: doing this to keep the condensate from flowing back unevenly is right on the money. Have a look at the Weil McLain site, you can download the installation manual there.

    A picture is worth......

ALOT! Here is a Slantfin modular setup. They use a common header and Hartford loop then feed up to the steam main. Other setups use seperate headers and Hartfords(or equalizers) for each boiler.

Yep , the best way to go would be dropping down

in to the main. Mad Dog

    Actually, no....

it is a manifold off the equalizer for the maual reset LWCO and the operating LWCO. The bottom is tied below the water line and the topaove the water line on the equalizer. Iplan on getting pics of the final completed installation when I get a chance. Haven't done one of those yet.....someday though.
