I own a large building with an old one pipe steam system that I am trying to love, but seem to have one problem
after another. The current question is this: the system is zoned into two sides and I am trying to get one valve
working. My contractor told me that the old valve wasn't repairable and is putting in a new one. As the
pictures show, he is replacing my old 5" valve with a 2". Does this look odd to any of you all? It does to me,
but maybe it will work?
Thanks.

Knock Knock...
Who's there?
Hammer....
Hammer who?
Hammer like hell!!
Looks like a trap to me...
Why the zone valves? Why not individual TRV's at the points of use, and a tekmar steam boiler controller.

That's what I was thinking
but I'm just a self educated layman dealing with contractors. I've been reading Dan's books and cartainly didn't think
that this looked right. Thanks for confirming my suspicions.

Uh-Oh
Bad mistake....find a competant steam expert ASAP. Dave Yates is in York, PA. (Behler & Sons)
He can probably refer you to a control/steamfitter technician. Check the "Find a Contractor" Feature on this site.
