I have a weil mclain 368st oil fire boiler the lwco seems to stick,is it wise to clean it or change it. The boiler is 11 yrs old. thank you. tom

    lwco sticks

    time to replace it its a safety device if it fails to turn boiler off you will have major problems please turn off your heat til its replaced

    If its probe type replace it,. If its mechanical, it can be cleaned ONLY by a qualified Tech. and kept in system. This is not a safety switch that you want to second guess.

    what controls do you have

    well we need to know what controls do you have what model numbers. I have seen model 67's stick cause of rust on the inside and I have seen them cut water off too low since they were not adjusted correctly.

    I have a #67 McDonnell.Miller LWCO, i opened the bottom of the Lwco and there was some scale on the wall of the lwco, so i cleaned the wall and replaced the gasket. It works fine now. Thanks for the help. Tom

    Keep a close eye on it, Tom

    in case it sticks again. A new LWCO is much cheaper than a new boiler.

    keep eye on it

    well a friend had the same issue, he called service guy before i could get a gasket kit and he replaced it, was very pricey, but like steamhead said keep a eye on it
