Ego

Even if you're listening to "The Stroke" by Billy Squire...

...and no matter how good and neat a painter you think you are, and no matter how small the area, NEVER EVER enamel trim over finished hardwood floors without a drop cloth!

To look at my hands you'd swear I chew my nails.

Spent two hours yesterday cleaning up my mess in a 3'x3' area. First time I ever painted trim without a dropcloth. NEVER again!@$*

In the words of the wallies

" LEAVE IT TO THE PROS". I cant stand to paint. I'd rather have root canal. Hope you got lucky and were able to fully clean the floor. By buddies wife dumped purple/pink paint on the hardwood and after alot of hours trying to clean it up, they had the floors refinished. They thought that the painters "were a ripoff" and " could do it ourselves". This is the same dude who thought he could cut down his own tree. He was able alright. Except when he cut down the tree it fell on the fence, crushed that, and took out the above ground pool and deck. I told him to think of the money he saved by cutting down the tree himself. I usually farm out the stuff I know I can do but hate to do it. The mindset going in has to be there or I "call a pro".

It came off--that's why it looks like I chew my nails. Used to work as a painter so knew MUCH better.
