looking for pics

I am looking for ideas to install a high efficiency gas boiler at my in-laws they are renovating thier kitchen in thier cape house and space is limited. I am looking for some pics and ideas whether wall mount or standard, indirect or exchanger, Approx. 200,000 btus that is only based on what is there. Demand for hot water is higher in summer, winter there is only two people, no jacuzzis one bath tub. Modulating and or outdoor reset. Viessman? Weil-Mclain Ultra? Buderus? Delta Elite? Biasi? RESTRICTED SPACE PICS WOULD BE NICE. I have installed alot of oil but no gas.

Here is what I would do:

    1) Do a heat loss calculation based either on their prior gas consumption or a heat loss program. Then size the modulating boiler for the max. firing rate it is going to encounter. Presumably, this is a hot water system, right?

    2) If you haven't done one before, I'd consider having a buddy who has installed them before give you a hand. Many of these units appear to be more tempremental than the less efficient CI equipment they replace. Be sure to follow the piping diagrams!

    3) Consider getting them an indirect water heater as well. Combined with a modulating, condensing gas boiler, you get pretty unbeatable efficiency.

    4) As for brands, I would concern myself primarily with what is available locally: Who is going to take care of the unit? Where are the closest parts stores and what do they carry, etc?

There are many condensing boiler choices out there. The Viessmann probably has the toughest HX. The NTI, Munchkin and the Ultra are great values. The GB142 also has many fans. However, all these brand names mean little if the person installing them isn't doing it right...

Seeing that you'll be on the Cape, you could always stop by HTP in Fall river (their HQ, factory, etc.) for some training or do the same thing at Viessmann in Warwick, RI (their US HQ).

Is this a Cape Cod style house or a house actually located on Cape Cod?

It is a two story house in Onset. A formal heat loss will be done. No basement exposed pipes which I do not even no how they ran them they must have dug thier way in and filled back on thier way out. It has a 1" supply that runs exposed and splits and returns back through the baseboard along each side of the house to the current boiler room. We will probably change and fix what is feasible and do radiant in the kitchen and back room which acts as the basement.
