I doubt you need one
if the radiators discharge into the dry return thru traps, water seals etc. you don't want a trap on the return going into the boiler. The radiator traps or other devices will keep steam out of the dry return. Adding an F&T to this setup where the dry return approaches the boiler will cause you no end of trouble. Water will get caught between the two trap locations.
Some Vapor systems drip the steam mains into the dry returns thru F&T traps. If your system already has these units and they're not working, it would pay to rebuild them.
Can you tell me more about the system, including who made the various components?
Save that old main vent for the heating museum!

System
The rads are all mixed. The rad traps are sarco angle style. We removed a 778 weil that was way over sized. The connected iron is 1456 EDR. I was going to add 2 Groton #2 for the new vent. Thanks Ray M

Definitely Vapor
You need to vent the dry return as well as the steam mains. A pair of Gorton #2 vents on the dry return should be OK. For the steam mains, I'd need their length and diameter, as well as what the existing vent setup is- standard vents, crossover traps, you get the idea. If they don't have any venting, you need to add vents. You want the steam to reach the ends of the mains about a minute after the boiler starts producing steam.
I'd also use a Vaporstat with 16 ounce maximum instead of a Pressuretrol.

Vents
I found some crossover traps. I ordered the vaporstat yesterday. The "B" measurment is 32 inches and the old pressuretrol was set at 2psi with 2 diff. no wonder the main vent leaked. The wet return is half clogged we will change them. Iwill measure the mains .
Thanks Ray M
P.S. How do you like the Burnham V9?

I've never installed a V9
but have heard good things about them. Burnham makes a quality boiler so I would have no problem installing one if needed.
