I looked at a boiler in a condo on saturday its a 2 pipe steam system boiler was replaced in november does not heat the condos i measured the radiators ran the numbers they have a V905 they need a V909 can sections be added a building management co has told them the cost to convert to gas where every unit has a gas boiler would be from $6,000 to $8,000 per unit but hes ignoring the 2 2,000 gallon oil tanks that have to be removed

think you can
Honestly I think you can add section to a boiler, its what they do at the factory, however i think you will void the warranty and all the jackets, and burner might not work right. I would call burnham and find out.
What You really should do is install another boiler to pick up the rest of the load and twin them in together, this will most likely be the cheapest, but its hard to believe that a steam boiler cant keep up or supply enough steam, but you did the calcs, so you know.0 -

To answer your question in a nutshell.....YES. Since this was installed in November it is presumably a V905A series boiler. You will, however, need to add several items to turn it into a V909A. Amoung these would be 4 more intermediate sections, an assembly carton, top canopy, flue collector with breech damper (specify top or rear outlet), jacket carton and of course a bigger burner. Or you can add another boiler along side the present one if room permits. Piped and controlled properly, a modular syeam system can be very advantagous. Let me know if there is anthing I can do to help.
