I have to share this story about one of our local oil dealers.I would like to give there name, but better not.
My in laws are kinda up against it.My Father in law has just started dialyis(spelling) which he'll be on the rest of his life.My brotherin law who lives with them and helps pay the bills just had his hip replaced so he's not working. My Mother in law ran into one of the owners one day and explained how sorry she was they were past due.
I saw the same owner the other day and I was offering him my condolences because his Mother just died.He then told me he erased my inlaws past due balance.Damn near brought tears to my eyes, heres a guy going to bury his mother in a couple days and he goes out of his way to tell me he erased there acount balance.
I don't care if there always 10 cents a gal. more they got my buisness forever.

    Hmmm...

... makes you wonder if Keyspan would ever do something like that. Probably not until they've taken you through bankruptcy court.

I can't tell you how many times

at my previous employement at "the local oil co" I applied for LIHEAP in the name of my customers, or sought out assistance for them wherever I could.

I reported mistreated animals to the local ASPCA, notified the Agency on Aging when I saw my older customer's living condition deteriorate, and anonomously sought donations and discounts for my clients in trouble.

Yes, It's MY community too, I live here and I have a grave plot here -I'm gonna be around forever!

    Good Works! JOHN

    Oilmen

For years I have said that there are businessmen in the oil business, and there are oilmen. That is one of the things that I love about oil in general. Unfortunately, most of these oilmen are of the first generations in the oil business, and the industry has since seemingly outgrown them. That's not to say that there aren't still quite a few second and third generation oilmen out there, maybe just not enough.
It was the oilman who knew that if he took care of his customers, they would in turn take care of him (or her).
They would provide not only his income, but his advertising as well.

Your account is typical of the oilmen that I revere. My (ex) father in law is one, and I have the utmost respect for him and those like him. They are the (not yet dead)men that we could all learn volumes from. I know that I did.

Every business group has people who care

however it never hurts to read another story about good people. The TV and the papers are loaded with the other kind of stories, but these kindnesses that we read about on the Wall are one of the ingredients that make this web site so special.

I have read about more acts of this type here than any other place. Sure makes the day brighter, even if it is a dull gray winter day.
