Endurance LPG Boiler, Any Good?

I am looking at a house and going to purchase and sale, and have a home inspector checking it out this weekend. They have an endurance lpg boiler from 2001. I was wondering, I have never heard of this, and will take careful pics, but anything to look for that might be wrong or installed wrong that I can check out. The system has the DHW exchanger, which I don't know how good or useful that is for fillign a tub, etc. any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Laars has made some enhancements since the 2001 model. I have the EBP 175 combi and it kicks. Extremley efficient and I never run out of hot water. Makes 5 gallons per minute at 100% rise.

However it is a very tempermental unit if not installed properly. The unit has many sensors and relays that the average heating contractor knows nothing about. (At least in my area) Very Very Quiet even at full fire. The most common issues are ignitors, flow switches and bad PCB boards which laars has now done away with.

I have the number for the Laars Technichal specialist and he has guided me through some minor problems and the unit now runs very well and has been trouble free. Email me and I can give you his number if you decide to buy the house.

    Ummm....Scuse me, but....

5 GPM @100 degree rise equals 249,900 btu's per hour. Am I missing something here?

175,000 btuH would equal 3.5 GPM if ALL of the output were available to thermal production, and if memory serves me correctly, the boiler is 86% efficient, therefore giving 86% of 3.5 GPM or 3.0 GPM @ 100 degree rise.

It may FEEL like 5 GPM @ a 100 degree rise, but unless its doing crank, it's only doing 3 GPM:-)

    No?

    Hi Mark,

Ooops Actually I thought I typed in 4GPM but you are right its more like 3.

I'll be a bit more careful typing next time. Thanks for the clarification.
