Anyone know anything about very bad banging pipes? The building uses water heating and when the steam builds up it causes very loud bangs in the pipes and the apartment. The building super says "aint nothing that can be done"...Anyone know anything that can be done?? Thanks for your help!

\"aint nothing that can be done\"
Is a common, but incorrect response. Steam systems should run silently.
Describe the banging (yes, it's loud). Beginning of cycle? End of cycle? You might be able to diagnose your problems just by checking out the resources at this site. If not, describe them here, hire a professional, or get your super to do so.
