Is a hofman 41 air vent to small for a main vent on a one pipe

We bought this house (with one pipe steam) a year ago and I'm wondering if a Hofman 41 (apparently made for risers) is adequate to be the only main vent. If not what do I do? The threaded hole in the main is half the size that a proper main vent requires. Can I drill and tap out a bigger hole? Should I? Also I'm tring to replace some leaky radiator valves (and the threaded pipes that screw into the radiators) but they are rusted on solid. WD 40 and pipe wrench didn't work. Should I use some (not too much) heat from a torch?

thats a convector vent....

not even close to a main vent...i would definitly drill and tap for a new real, main vent..

How long is the steam main

and what pipe size? If there is old insulation on the main, don't disturb it- measure its outside diameter and subtract 2-1/4 inches to get the pipe size. With this info we can tell you what vent to install.
