I am looking for a oil line shutoff valve that will work w/ oil tank 4' above burner, to shut off oil line if there is a leak,, Suntec PRV-38 seems to be only if it is a vacum or air leak, not a leak that would keep oil gravity flowing. ,,, This valve would only open w/ suction pull from oil pump,, Supply house only had a spring check that would'nt hold a 2' head of water ????

oil valve
The valve you are looking for is called an oil safety valve, or an OSV as its called in the trade, and is required when the fuel source is above the burner. It requires the pump vacuum to pull the valve open and it will not allow gravity flow of oil if the line should suffer damage. Not sure of the brand but I think Webster and Suntec produce them.

Webster
The Webster OSV specs list a max of 3 feet from the valve to the oil burner. These valves require 2" of vacuum to open them. Though I have no experience with this what if you put 2 OSV's in line, one at the tank and one 3' down? In theory it would work. Anyone else?0 -
Anti Syphon Valve, that's the ticket
This one will work, you may need to make tank a top supply. They make them up according to head pressure and go way over a "normal" OSV, Hope this helps John@Reliable
