Went to

clean a furnace today for my brothers Mother in Law. She's a sweet lady about to turn 80. I take care of her furnace and don't charge her much cuz she's on a limited budget. I got all the burners out and find that my helper has borrowed my furnace cleaning stuff and not put it back yet. Time to improvise. I borrowed her hoover with a hose and attachments.
There wasn't a good attachment for getting down the burner openings and up and around the draft diverter. I check the back of my truck and ...viola... a 4 foot piece of 1/2" multicore. I stuck it in the hose of the vacuum cleaner and man o man did it work great. I used a rag around the opening of the hose so as to force the suction to go through the multicore. The small opening, 1/2"ID increased the velocity of the air and it worked so well I may have to incorporate it into my furnace cleaning kit. I could bend it into any shape to get to different places in the heat exchanger and it would hold that shape until I changed it. I feel like I just discovered penicillan by accident. (little exageration, but I'm very pleased) :P WW
