gorton vent lots of air

Just replaced a varivent with a gorton #6 on a second floor radiator(4ft baseboard cast iron baseray) Upon system shutdown a constant volume of air is expelled thru vent for approx. 90 seconds. This did not occur with previous vent, I swapped vents to put more adjustiable varivent on First floor rads to balance system.Radiator in question heats across properly. I have seen this question on other threads go unanswered can you pros get it a shot. Thanks

Sorry David I'm not a pro! Are you sure the vent is venting air (its sucking) So you could say that Gorton vents suck for systems cooling down LOL (sorry) All of mine do the same thing when cooling off they are letting air into the system which is normal. Do you need that much venting? the Hoffman 1A adjustables are not as fast but much quieter. I have heard that faulty main vents can cause this (they are suposed to open and let air back in also) However I have 10 #2 Gorton mains that are new and my Gorton #Ds suck like crazy when the boiler shuts off. If your mains are will vented you may not need so much radiator vent. I'm going to try insulating the main below my main vents to see if this will help let the mains open sooner after the boiler shuts off. just some thoughts good luck.0
