Flakes coming from my vent

Member Posts: 1
Just recently, I have used my heating system for the first time this season. During the day, i have the heat on and at night I have the air on. I have been noticing these reddish brown flakes where my ceiling vents are located. Our home is only about 3 years old. What could be the cause?
Thanks! : )

I would have the heat exchanger checked
those flakes are often a marker that the exchanger is cracked. Yes it is only a three year old furnace but is does happen. Get a co detector asap if you don't have one just to be sure. You have changed your filter I assume. Anything differant going on or been done to the house?0
